Violin Mentor, Pioneer
Bliss is a senior and a violinist at Pioneer High School. She honestly cannot remember a time without violin, because she started reading violin music around the same time she started reading English. She considers the violin the longest non-familial relationship in her life so far, and like any long-term relationship, they have had their ups and downs. In middle school, she was so miserable playing it that she seriously considered smashing it on the floor. Eventually, though, she found her way back to violin after forming a strong bond with a new violin teacher and therefore rediscovering the beautiful music she was able to make, both solo and with her Pioneer High School orchestra family. Bliss now has a deep appreciation for the importance of receiving helpful, supportive lessons and wants to extend that to others through PPL.
Outside of PPL and orchestra, Bliss is currently obsessed with Vladimir Nabakov, Black Mirror, and the upcoming NBA season. She recently visited her 20th national park and loves to hike and kayak, and so is passionate about helping develop new technologies and methods of combating climate change through roles with the Climate Reality Project and the EPA. During her free time, you will usually find Bliss happily volunteering (re: petting kittens) at the local Humane Society or relearning Latin after a year off. Bliss is not sure what she wants to study beyond high school because she loves every subject, but she looks at college as her important next stepping stone to her huge dreams.
