Peer Private Lessons

learn more
Making private instruction a reality for all musicians.

Our purpose: briefly

Picture
Private instruction, which provides individual attention and a way to commit to practicing, is an essential part of growing as a musician and learning to enjoy one's instrument. Yet for some, transportation, financial, and teacher fit create barriers to a private lesson experience.

Thus, we at Peer Private Lessons seek to provide high quality, student-run, individual instruction, mitigating the challenges named above while empowering our peers to express themselves through their instruments. To do so, we offer free lessons to all, taught by qualified peer mentors according to a tone-focused curriculum with painstaking hours behind it.
our purpose, in detail

Our impact:

Ultimately, success is not about how many mentors we have, how good our website looks, or how much curriculum we're able to write.

It's about how many students and schools we've able to provide lessons to.
It's about that moment of rapture after a performance that was helped along by a PPL mentor.
It's about those moments of connection between mentor and student.
It's about creating a sense of togetherness through our music.

Right now, PPL's community includes:

5 schools

30 students

49 team members

For prospective students:

For potential team members:

PPL offers you weekly lessons, free of charge, with a fellow student who is at least qualified to play in a high school symphony orchestra. Your lessons will be at your convenience, and can be as chill as you set your goals to be. Your teacher can hep you with auditions and technique in the context of the PPL curriculum, and provide you with solos from movie music, pop music, classical music, and more! Support us!

Our website and teaching materials both do cost money, and we would welcome direct support from donors. Please take note, however, that PPL is not yet a registered 501(c)(3) organization. Since we do not take revenue from our students and certification is lengthy and costly, we feel that our time is better spent improving the reach and quality of our lessons.
