Violin Mentor, Pioneer
Jasmine is a sophomore at Pioneer High School and member of the Pioneer Symphony Orchestra. She started playing the violin with Judy Blank (Suzuki Method) at age 3 and currently studies with Professor Stephen Shipps and Mallory Tabb at the University of Michigan’s String Preparatory Academy. Through the String Prep Academy and the Pioneer Orchestra Program, Jasmine has been able to give back to her community by doing outreach concerts at the University of Michigan Hospital, the Pinkney Community Public Library, and The Detroit Institute of Arts. During the summers, Jasmine likes to attend music camps in Michigan and abroad. Most recently, she was a student at the Liberec International Violin Academy in the Czech Republic. This fall, she will also participate in the Michigan Youth Symphony Orchestra. As former concert master of the Slauson Orchestra, Jasmine has previous experience mentoring fellow violinists and has also received amazing mentorship. Outside of the violin, Jasmine enjoys rowing with Pioneer’s state champion crew team and spending time with her friends.
