Violin Mentor, Pioneer
John is a senior violinist in Pioneer Symphony Orchestra. He started playing violin in 1st grade after listening to his brother play the Butterfly Concerto as his senior recital, becoming inspired to be able to play the concerto someday in his future. However, this enthusiasm was soon curbed with the difficulty spike accompanied with the violin, and coupled with his constant stress from increased expectation from his private teachers, his enamor for the instrument seemed to die. However, after experiencing more and more pieces through middle school and high school, as well as through a transformative experience in all-state, John fell in love with music once more, especially with the blending of voices in orchestras. Ultimately, it was the ability of music to allow for people to connect and compromise with others that fueled John’s passion, and he wishes to bring this collaborative and supportive nature into PPL.
Outside of orchestra, John has recently become interested in psychological games such as mafia (when he doesn’t die immediately in the first round). He enjoys anything related to Disney, Pixar, and Harry Potter, and also likes discussion and debating in Pioneer’s Ethics Bowl team.
